“One of Hollywood's most notorious scams” — the "Hollywood Scam Queen" case has been announced to be adapted into a documentary series by Apple. This incident prompted investigations by the FBI and police, along with extensive inquiries by various media, podcasts, and filmmakers. In 2018, reports revealed that someone was using voice forgery to commit fraud, operating globally, and employing methods such as imitating the voices of several high-level female figures in the American film and media industry, including Wendi Deng, former Sony's Amy Pascal, Lucas's Kathleen Kennedy, former 20th Century Fox’s Stacey Snider, and Zack Snyder's wife and producing partner Deborah Snyder, to scam Hollywood professionals like makeup artists and cinematographers. They fabricated movie projects in Indonesia, invited individuals to work, and then demanded payment for travel expenses, thus defrauding them. Through investigation, it was found that the perpetrator was likely not a woman but a man. The identity of the perpetrator was later confirmed to be Hargobind Punjabi Tahilramani, an Indonesian man with connections in the UK, who had a history of similar offenses. In December 2020, the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest of Tahilramani in Manchester.
