The nationally famous magician Wang Shou (Ma Jingwu) meets Japanese businessman Kameda (Li Ning) while performing his skill "Air Missile Catch" in his theater troupe in a southern city. Soon, he has an unexpected encounter with Kameda at the city's museum, where they are joined by his beloved apprentice Gao Xiaoli (Liang Danni), Kameda's assistant, and sculptor Yang Kai (Zhang Yonghan). Subsequently, two pairs of Han Dynasty acrobatic figurines in the museum are replaced with replicas. The police investigating the case regard Yang Kai and Kameda as major suspects, as the former once made a pair of replicas for the latter. Yang Kai's wife approaches Wang Shou, claiming that Kameda is the real killer, and Wang Shou agrees to help Yang Kai clear his name. During his interactions with Yang Kai, a memory from 15 years ago resurfaces in Wang Shou's mind: he once stole a sum of money from a man while living in Yang Kai's home. For years, this incident had weighed heavily on his mind. However, when Wang Shou returns the money, an unintentional revelation surfaces. While assisting his master in secretly investigating Kameda, Gao Xiaoli finds Bai Jiesheng (Xu Yajun), a former disciple who was expelled from the sect for stealing and has now become a successful entrepreneur. The two develop feelings for each other through their exchanges. Despite the investigations from both the police and Wang Shou, Kameda, being protected by the deputy mayor, is too cunning to leave any evidence behind. As it becomes apparent that the national treasures are about to be smuggled out of the country, Wang Shou finds himself caught in a dilemma over whether to steal again. The fact that Gao Xiaoli is in love with a former "thief" also leaves him unable to accept the situation.
