The main character of this drama is inspired by the famous singer of the Showa era, Kasagi Joko, who rose to fame with hit songs such as "Tokyo Bukiyuki" and "Shopping Bukiyuki." The story narrates the life of Suzuko Hanada, born in the Taisho era in Kagawa but raised in the downtown money bath of Osaka. She is a girl who loves to sing and dance, filled with naive romance. During the Showa period, she moves to Tokyo and meets a composer, drastically changing her life; under the composer's guidance, she becomes a popular singer known as the "Swing Queen." However, with the onset of war, misfortunes such as her brother being conscripted and her mother's death follow, and she is forced to sing patriotic songs, with her singing and dancing activities severely restricted. During this painful time, she meets a young man and quickly falls in love, but their marriage is opposed by the young man's family. After the war ends, pregnant Suzuko still longingly awaits the young man's return, but when she goes into labor, she only receives news of his death and gives birth to a baby girl. After that, Suzuko raises her daughter alone and, amidst the post-war trauma in Japan, inspires the people with "Tokyo Bukiyuki," gradually becoming a popular star that everyone admires.
