On the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) arrives at his sister Margo's (Carrie Coon) bar, cursing and complaining about his once-loving wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) and the seemingly hopeless state of their marriage. When he returns home, he discovers signs of a violent struggle in the living room, and his wife is mysteriously missing. Detective Rhonda Boney (Kim Dickens) arrives to investigate after receiving a report, and the various clues left at the scene suggest that this is not a typical missing person case, but may involve a murder stemming from the couple's fractured relationship. Amy's disappearance quickly becomes a nationwide sensation fueled by media speculation, and the morally questionable Nick finds himself under intense scrutiny, while his missing wife subjects him to a merciless trial; the sweet words of love have turned into a blood-soaked quest for revenge and torment... This film is adapted from Gillian Flynn's novel of the same name.
