This series is adapted from Lauren Beukes' bestselling novel "The Shining Girls." The story follows Kirby Mazrachi (played by Elisabeth Moss), a Chicago journalist who survives a brutal attack, but as she pursues her assailant, she discovers that her reality is undergoing significant changes. After learning that a recent murder case bears similarities to her own situation, Kirby teams up with troubled veteran journalist Dan Velazquez (played by Wagner Moura) to uncover the identity of the attacker. The two gradually find that these cases are interconnected, but their personal traumas and Kirby's own blurred reality keep the attacker one step ahead.
