Netflix directly ordered the anthology series "Seven Seconds," written by Veena Sud and directed by Gavin O’Connor, set to premiere on February 23 in the U.S. The first season consists of 10 episodes and tackles popular current themes in the U.S., telling the story of the tense relationship between Black citizens and white police officers in Jersey City after a Black teenager is severely injured and dies due to police actions. Clare-Hope Ashitey plays K.J. Harper, an assistant prosecutor from New Jersey who takes on the case. Michael Mosley portrays Joe Rinaldi, nicknamed "Fish," an experienced detective from New Jersey assigned to work with prosecutor K.J. Harper. David Lyons plays Mike Diangelo, a staunch macho who dedicates his life to the New Jersey police, effectively leading his small narcotics team; Beau Knapp plays the rookie Peter Jablonski, eager to please his captain and father figure Mike Diangelo. Zackary Momoh plays Felix Osorio, and Patrick Murney plays Gary Wilcox, both on the same narcotics team. Russell Hornsby, a star from "Grimm," plays the devout Isaiah Butler, who is shocked by the events affecting his son Brenton. Raul Castillo plays Seth Butler, Isaiah's brother who just returned from Afghanistan to support the family. Regina King plays Latrice Butler, a devout woman who regularly attends worship, serving as choir leader, school secretary, wife, and mother to a 15-year-old boy. After successfully acquiring a home with her family, her core values are shaken when her son Brenton becomes involved in the incident; Latrice and her husband also realize they don't truly understand their son's situation, leading her to anger that will change her life and her relationship with her husband.
