Sean (John Wayne) is the leader of a hunting team that travels around the world capturing rare exotic animals to sell to zoos for money. Sean is a very humane hunter; during the pursuit of his prey, he never allows them to be harmed, instead opting for more troublesome but gentler methods. One day, Sean and his team are chasing a rhinoceros when one of the team members is unfortunately injured and urgently needs a blood transfusion, and he happens to have a very rare blood type. At this critical moment, a stranger named Chips (Gérard Blain) appears, claiming to have a matching blood type, but in exchange, Sean must find him a position within the hunting team.
