The clumsy Xu Sanduo (Wang Baoqiang) draws the ire of Gao Cheng (Zhang Guoqiang), the leader of the renowned "Steel Seventh Company," known for the spirit of "never abandon, never give up," when he surrenders upon seeing a tank before even entering the military camp. After joining, squad leader Shi Jin (Zhang Yi) becomes his support, while vice squad leader Wu Liuyi (Xing Jiadong), also a fellow townsman, views him as a thorn in his side due to his awkwardness.
