This drama begins with Emperor Kangxi leading the princes and nobles, along with the elite troops of the Eight Banners, on a northern expedition while also conducting the "Mulan Autumn Peach" event. It showcases the extraordinary process by which a divine deer guided Kangxi to discover the auspicious location of Rehe (Chengde). Kangxi believed that the natural scenery and geographical position here were not only suitable for summer retreats but also particularly convenient for contacting the northern ethnic minorities, thus being a "heavenly blessed place" for implementing the national policy of "unity among hundreds of tribes" and "long-term stability." Kangxi decided to build a summer palace here. Through regular interactions with the noble clans of the northern ethnic minorities, he aimed to enhance ethnic unity. During the construction of the palace, the princes schemed against each other, while the corrupt official Gali took the opportunity to accept bribes and line his own pockets, committing various misdeeds with his son Gali Bu. The chief architect (general building supervisor) Lei Jinliang was an expert in palace garden construction, known for his integrity, exceptional wisdom, and superb craftsmanship. Alongside his son Lei Shengyuan and daughter Lei Xiugu, they faced many hardships and made significant contributions to the construction of the Summer Resort.
