The story takes place in Beijing in 1928, where young student Fan Jiashu (played by Hu Bing) meets the wealthy young lady He Lina (played by Yuan Li) by chance. Fan Jiashu dislikes the arrogant and overbearing attitude of He Lina and remains cold towards her. However, the battalion commander Shen Guoying is deeply infatuated with He Lina.
