In the early 1930s, someone visited the Su residence in the suburbs of Shanghai, seeking to purchase the family's ancestral antique—a Song Dynasty porcelain pillow. Mr. Su firmly refused and smashed the pillow to show his resolve. His daughter, Su Tao, came out to clean up and unexpectedly discovered a delicate bronze mirror among the broken porcelain. Out of curiosity, she took the mirror back to the attic to play with it, inadvertently triggering a series of bizarre and strange events. For a living, Wu Xin set up a stall outside a casino every day with Bai Liuli to tell fortunes. One day, he encountered Su Tao again. With Wu Xin's help, Su Tao finally contacted her brother. She moved into a small alley in the slums with Wu Xin and Bai Niangzi (the little white snake that possesses Bai Liuli), and for the time being, they enjoyed a warm and happy life together, eagerly waiting for her brother's return. Just then, the handsome and androgynous young master Xiao Dingmao from the business association barged into the lives of Wu Xin and Su Tao. He was the adopted son of a big boss in Shanghai. After the boss fled to Hong Kong, the power in the concessions split in two, with the underworld business handed over to three elders led by Chen Daguan, while the white business association became the realm of Xiao Dingmao. He possessed a shrewdness beyond his years, navigating competition with Chen Daguan and stirring up chaos; on the other hand, he showed an unusual interest in Wu Xin and Su Tao. Suddenly, Shirakawa Rin from Japan intervened. In several confrontations, Bai Liuli, underestimating her opponent, was captured but accidentally uncovered the secret of the bronze mirror. Faced with Shirakawa Rin's relentless pursuit, Wu Xin decided to take the initiative. He leveraged the gang power of Xiao Dingmao and Gu Ji to set up a trap within a trap, destroying the bronze mirror in Shirakawa Rin's possession. This act could have killed him, but unexpectedly, Gu Ji secretly helped him escape, hoping to gain the position of the opium agent in return. After a period of turmoil, the onmyoji disappeared, Chen Daguan fell from power, and even Gu Ji left. Life seemed to return to calm. Wu Xin and Su Tao relied on each other in this war-torn isolated island amidst the ever-changing situation, and unbeknownst to them, Su Tao's feelings for Wu Xin deepened. In this turbulent era, Su Tao and Wu Xin were just two tiny specks of dust. The wheels of fate had begun to turn; where would they be taken next?
