The story takes place in ancient times, where the orphan Xinghu (Guo Pinchao) and Yan'er (Wang Likeke) have loved each other since childhood. The village chief, influenced by the demon Chi Mei (Miao Haizhong), cuts in to take away their love. Xinghu witnesses his beloved die trying to save him, leading him to fall ill with grief.
