In a courtyard of a certain city, there lived two families. The Zhang family and the Li family had been neighbors for many years, living under the same roof with deep feelings for each other, helping one another through life's minor troubles. However, living together inevitably led to some bumps, and there were always small conflicts between the two families. Aunt Zhang and Uncle Zhang often complained that the Li family members were clever and hard to deal with; similarly, the Li family had their complaints about some of the Zhang family's behaviors. Sometimes the families were as close as one, but at times they would stir up a mess over trivial matters. Uncle Zhang had poor hearing and was somewhat muddled in his actions; all household matters were decided by Aunt Zhang, who often dealt with things that could leave people both amused and exasperated. Aunt Zhang was meticulous in managing the household, but she was also a bit small-minded. She worried all day about her two sons, focusing intently on wanting grandchildren, yet her wishes remained unfulfilled. Zhang Bao, the elder son, worked in the industrial and commercial bureau and was moderate in personality, pleasing both his wife and not opposing his mother, living a perfunctory life. His wife, Shi Qin, had always dreamed of becoming a white-collar worker and spent her days mingling in the job market, neglecting motherhood, which made Aunt Zhang both angry and anxious. Ambition leads to success; Shi Qin eventually became a professional woman, but this also led her to be neglectful of family matters, causing dissatisfaction among her family.
