During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, the land of China was drenched in blood and chaos, and the common people struggled on the brink of death, asking the heavens in despair: When will the turmoil end?! When will the country be at peace? At the age of 21, Zhao Kuangyin bid farewell to his parents and wife, left home to venture into the world, and went through countless hardships to deliver the royal bride to the capital. In times of chaos, heroes emerge. Zhao Kuangyin took refuge with Guo Wei, and due to his outstanding performance in the Battle of Gaoping, he became a senior general in the Imperial Guard. Zhao Kuangyin gradually built his own power within the guard, forming the "Ten Brothers of the Brotherhood." After the death of Chai Rong, Zhao Kuangyin launched the Chenqiao mutiny and donned the imperial robe. Upon becoming emperor, he first defeated the remnants of the Later Zhou, and adopted a strategy of "first south, then north," conquering separatist regimes and strengthening defenses in the north. He then peacefully seized military power with "wine to release military authority." By firmly adhering to the national policy of "fostering civility and suppressing militarism," he initiated the glorious era of the Northern Song dynasty. On October 12, 976, Zhao Kuangyin died suddenly, leaving behind the enduring mystery of "Candle Shadow and Axe Sound." Just a day later, his younger brother Zhao Kuangyi ascended to the throne, known historically as Emperor Taizong of Song.
