The granddaughter of the Lord of Yonglin, Helan Mingyu, has been intelligent since childhood. In her youth, she unexpectedly met the ninth prince of Shengzhou, Xiao Chengxu, and the two found a kindred spirit in each other, gradually developing feelings. A false rumor about Xiao Chengxu "dying in battle" spreads, and to save Chengxu's younger brother Xiao Chengxuan, Mingyu is forced to marry Chengxu's third brother, Shengzhou King Xiao Chengrui, and becomes trapped in the harem. Meanwhile, Qiyuan grows up and becomes dissatisfied with Xiao Chengxu's control, and under the instigation of others, learns of the feelings between his mother and Chengxu, harboring resentment toward both of them. For the stability of Da Sheng, Mingyu strives to find a balance between Qiyuan and Xiao Chengxu. Unexpectedly, Chengxu ultimately dies in battle, and Qiyuan, who is deeply infatuated, passes away shortly after his favored concubine Dong Ruoxuan.
