This is an emotional drama that presents love, marriage, and family ethics from a unique perspective. It features five women of different identities who face the bittersweet experiences of life and the complexities of love and hate, showcasing their remarkable self-salvation and the strength of their tolerant and open-minded personalities. Each character embodies traditional moral values and serves as a "mirror" reflecting their own inner emotions. Their lives are filled with real-life confusions and the pursuit of family happiness, and they cherish family harmony and relationships like sunlight breaking through layers of fog, constantly radiating brilliance. They experience and feel all the joys and sorrows of middle age, their tears soaked in the pain caused by loved ones, their compassion melting the icy barriers in marital relationships, and their laughter carries a sense of nostalgia as it transcends time and space. They build a home—this warm "nest" shared by couples—through their soft hearts and delicate love. This is a play about women, a play appreciated by both men and women, and a play that provides audiences with ample room for reflection, offering countless ordinary families the opportunity to express love and communicate emotions while the story unfolds. The overall narrative, set against the backdrop of four families, is intertwined with the essence of the traditional Chinese virtue of "harmony is precious." As we each step into the years of clarity in our lives, we unknowingly gain a measure of worry and pain, but we also acquire more responsibility and love. Yiwang, Xiaodan, Xiaofeng, Shuiyao, and Linghong are five women entangled in love, pain, and worry. Yiwang lives alone with her two children in Hong Kong while her husband, Zhiming, works in a foreign company in Beijing. One day, Yiwang receives a call from Shuiyao in Beijing, revealing a secret about her husband. Yiwang immediately decides to quit her job and take the children to Beijing. Zhiming's change leaves her feeling as if she has fallen into an abyss; she never imagined her deeply beloved husband would tell her he no longer loves her. As the days go by, Yiwang struggles to dispel the pain in her heart and her enduring love for Zhiming. She suffers from her love while also loving in her suffering, and through love, she truly understands everything between Zhiming and Linghong. Zhiming, lonely after being long-distance from Yiwang, meets Linghong, a girl working in Beijing. They are not meant to fall in love, but their mistaken affection adds extreme pain and guilt to both. They abruptly end their budding relationship, questioning their morals largely within their own hearts. It becomes a story of moral return and emotional healing, yet it remains difficult to release. Xiaodan and Qiufeng were college classmates. Qiufeng comes from a rural background in the northwest, while Xiaodan is the daughter of a university professor. Despite their differing backgrounds and personalities, they are a very equal couple, resembling partners and friends. They share everything without guard, treating each other sincerely. However, Qiufeng ultimately conceals a matter from Xiaodan that nearly leads them to divorce. This is a deeply buried and unforgettable story from Qiufeng's youth—she was a classmate and first love from his middle school days. Qiufeng secretly arranged for her daughter, Sisi, to work in his company, and secretly spends over a hundred thousand yuan on her medical treatment. This is something Xiaodan cannot understand or tolerate. Though Qiufeng fully confesses to Xiaodan afterward, their previously close relationship suffers an irreparable rift, with character conflicts escalating into endless quarrels, leading them to separate. Nevertheless, Qiufeng's love for Xiaodan remains unwavering and selfless. Xiaofeng's husband, Boda, left home several years ago, leaving Xiaofeng and her son, Feihong, to live a difficult life. Xiaofeng is a kind-hearted woman with a strong will; she steadfastly decides to wait for her husband’s return. She believes her waiting won't be in vain because she knows Boda loves her, and she loves him even more. Boda eventually returns, but only when he is gravely ill. Xiaofeng never anticipated such an outcome. Faced with another blow and immense pressure from life, she shoulders the heavy burdens as if they were mountains, selling their only house to pay for her husband's medical treatment. However, she fails to keep him, as Boda ultimately leaves her forever. Their final days together are as beautiful and unforgettable as when they fell in love. It is a cycle of life, an extreme of love. Xiaofeng gives her lifetime love to Boda, while he promises to tell her all about his love in the next life, saying: "In the next life, no matter where you are, I will find you, even if I have to work as hard as an ox and a horse to repay your love in this life." Shuiyao and Yonghe are a model couple, embodying the traditional virtue of mutual respect that Chinese couples hold dear. Their happy life serves as a model for Xiaodan, Yiwang, and Xiaofeng. Shuiyao, being the eldest among them, often listens to the inner struggles and worries of her friends, providing them with comfort and help. She even proposes the establishment of a mutual support group to face all challenges in life together. However, their happiness does not come easily. On the occasion of their twentieth wedding anniversary, Shuiyao and Yonghe open up to their friends about the stories that have transpired in their lives. This is a story that portrays the pure emotions between spouses. It is a work filled with healthy aspirations, meaning, and harmony, where every character in the story is someone who loves you wholeheartedly.
