Ye Xiaoyu, an English teacher born in the 1980s, is an intellectual and sunny person, renowned for being in a loving relationship with her young and accomplished husband. Suddenly, three uninvited guests break into their home. One is a proud, independent elderly opera diva who has recently experienced a major life upheaval; another is a stylish flight attendant who is escaping from a troubled relationship; and the last is her husband’s ex-girlfriend, who appears charming but is full of schemes. They each bring their own secrets as they invade Ye Xiaoyu's home. After going through a mix of conflicts and camaraderie with the three women, Xiaoyu’s relationship with them gradually transforms. She first helps her sister-in-law untangle her emotional baggage, and later assists her mother-in-law in fulfilling her dream of returning to the stage. Throughout this process, Xiaoyu also solidifies her beliefs in tolerance and love. The three women transition from adversaries to close friends and unite against a common enemy – the ex-girlfriend, Xu Qianqian. The mothers-in-law and sisters-in-law work together to help Xiaoyu defend her love and marriage.
