To escape from being the prince consort of Princess Sui Zhu, the "number one dandy under heaven," Beiliang's heir Xu Fengnian (played by Zhang Ruoyun) strips off his luxurious garments under the arrangement of his father Xu Xiao (played by Hu Jun) and enters the martial world for the first time. He finds joy in hardship alongside the coachman Old Huang and meets many figures from the martial arts community.
