At the end of 1944, the Japanese and puppet government's autumn sweep and betrayal led to White City falling into difficulties. Jiang Man-gen and underground party member Peng Xiu-nü were urgently tasked with entering White City. Man-gen had no experience in underground struggles, was reckless and impulsive, and his actions frequently deviated from the organization's plans, causing suspicion from the Japanese and the puppet police chief Chu Qiang, which ultimately led to Xiu-nü's death.
