The story takes place in the early 1970s. The Down to the Countryside Movement is in full swing. Zhuang Huisheng (played by Shi Tiangeng) secretly changes his application due to his crush on Ye Xiaofan (played by Wang Yuanke), but ends up in northern Shaanxi against his wishes, while Ye Xiaofan, Qiao Haiyang (played by Zhang Yi), and others are assigned to the Northeast Construction Corps.
