Ren Xiaoxue (played by Zhao Lin) was determined to disappear before leaving Beijing. Just before boarding the plane, she threw away the SIM card from her phone, and once the plane arrived in Vancouver, she calmly evaded the gaze of the tour guide Lu Dahong (played by Jiang Wu) and vanished. Lu Dahong panicked and accidentally knocked down the international student Yang Xi (played by Li Xiaoran). After sending Yang Xi to the hospital, he hurriedly left his business card and rushed back to the hotel. Yang Xi called her classmate Luo Yi (played by Chen Kun) to come visit her. Luo Yi had just arrived from China and was looking for a place to live. Meanwhile, someone back in Beijing had already set off specifically to Vancouver to search for Xiaoxue. Just as Luo Yi moved into his new place, he was shocked to discover that the woman in the opposite apartment was Xiaoxue! After being found, Xiaoxue shared her experiences with Luo Yi, Yang Xi, and Lu Dahong. To protect Xiaoxue from further harm, they all concealed her whereabouts. Yang Xi developed feelings for Dahong, but with Dahong’s wife soon arriving from China, their relationship faced obstacles, causing Yang Xi great pain. On the other side, Luo Yi, who was deeply attracted to Xiaoxue, was also tormented; he loved Xiaoxue’s gentleness and mystery, yet this very mystery troubled him. He longed for Xiaoxue to open her heart to him, but she always seemed to maintain a barrier. Luo Yi's father was arrested for corruption, and suddenly all the problems piled onto him, pushing his capacity to cope to its limits...
