Yang Fan (played by Li Jiahang), Qi Zhansheng (played by Wan Peixin), and Wang Xiaobing (played by Jiang Han) grew up in the resource-scarce and conservative 1970s, inheriting from their parents the essence of simplicity, kindness, persistence, and resilience of the Chinese spirit. In the 1980s and 1990s, the three brothers, along with the people of China, experienced the wave of reform and opening-up: educational reform, where universities no longer guaranteed job placements; system reform, breaking the iron rice bowl to encourage the private economy; and industrial reform, where technological innovation and structural adjustment led to layoffs and re-employment. At the same time, Qi Zhansheng's first love, Yunduo, mysteriously disappears, while Guan Xianghong, who has always had unrequited love for him, relentlessly pursues him; due to real-world pressures, Wang Xiaobing separates from Guan Xueqing; and Yang Fan meets the lively and cheerful Tan Yanfei during his lowest moments. The confusion about their personal futures, entangled with family and romantic relationships, leaves the three at a loss. However, the post-70s generation is an indomitable one, possessing an insatiable desire for new things. The three brothers steadily rise from the bottom to become elites in the business world. Their unique post-70s spirit of tolerance, reflection, and the courage to face shame leads them to find their spiritual home.
