Elder Liu Jinqing (played by Ma Jingwu) has two sons and a daughter. They have all established their own families and should be enjoying a happy retirement. However, during Liu Jinqing's 70th birthday banquet, a dispute between his two daughters-in-law triggers a sudden heart attack, leading to Liu Jinqing's death. This unexpected event turns his will and the debts he left behind, as well as his relationship with his unregistered partner Zhang Changlan (played by Cao Cuifen), into an unsolvable mystery.
