The story takes place in the beautiful coastal city of Haihe, depicting the life of Wu Yang, a doctoral student studying in the U.S. who is leading the development of a highly valuable viral vaccine. On his way home after dropping a friend off at the airport, he accidentally hits a mysterious figure with his car, thereby becoming embroiled in a baffling series of rape and murder cases, leading to a series of suspenseful events... Young singer Zhang Han is raped and has her throat slit by a mysterious killer while on her way to an interview at a record company. Since Wu Yang’s car hit the killer, he gets blood from Zhang Han on him and becomes a prime suspect for the police, thus altering his once-beautiful life. In court, Zhang Han identifies Wu Yang under public accusation, but just as he is about to be convicted, his friend returns from abroad and provides an alibi, leading to Wu Yang being found "not guilty" and released.
