"Soul Ferry · Nanyang Legend" tells the story of Xia Dongqing and the soul ferryman Zhao Li, who help souls lingering in the mortal world due to unfinished business. On the surface, Xia Dongqing, who seems to have no presence, has a secret — he possesses a pair of special eyes. He can see the beings of another world, commonly referred to as the "yin-yang eyes," and communicate with them. This secret brings Xia Dongqing a lot of trouble. Raised in an orphanage since childhood, he has just graduated from university and is preparing for graduate school while seeking jobs. He then gets hired by a 24-hour convenience store called Convenience Store No. 444.
