This is an ordinary family in Shanghai. Middle-aged Zhou Yi has the usual flaws that incompetent state-owned enterprise leaders tend to have, while his wife Liu Henan, who is a veterinary doctor, takes care of the four men at home—her husband, son Zhou Kai, father-in-law Zhou Hongfa, and nephew Zhou Chao—like "pets," treating them with meticulous care but managing them rigidly.
