The legendary epic "Racecourse," which has been in preparation for two years and is set against the historical backdrop of Qingdao, Shandong in the early 20th century, will begin filming on October 16 this year in Qingdao and Hengdian. The TV drama "Racecourse" takes the backdrop of the May Fourth Movement that erupted in 1919 and is set in the Qingdao racecourse. It tells the story of a Chinese knight, Zuo Tianyi, and his love-hate relationship with a local Qingdao woman and a Japanese lady, depicting the fierce struggle for sovereignty over Qingdao between the forces of China's democratic progress and the tripartite powers during the period from 1911 to 1922. It showcases the tumultuous history of Qingdao that led to the birth of the May Fourth Movement. The show narrates events from the "Xinhai Revolution" and the "assassination of Yuan Shikai" to the "May Fourth Movement" and the "liberation of Qingdao," thoroughly reflecting the resistance of the Qingdao people against the colonial rule of Germany and Japan at the time. Additionally, elements of legends and treasure hunts such as "I Ching" and "treasures" are incorporated, making it a dramatic epic reflecting the national struggle for survival and strength.
