The legendary master Wong Fei-hung, who excelled in both martial arts and medicine, was rare in his selfless teaching approach, allowing his profound skills to be passed down and promoted. Among his many disciples, five are particularly celebrated in history: Leung Kwan, Zhu Rou Rong, Gwei Jiao Qi, Ya Ca Su, and Lu Xiao Yue. Their experiences of becoming disciples and their individual heroics are both fascinating and entertaining. In the year when Wong Fei-hung was thirty-nine, his father, Wong Kei-ying, passed away due to illness. On his deathbed, he instructed his son to abandon teaching and manage a medicine shop: "Living by fist will bring many enemies, but living through medicine will help you build good relationships". Fei-hung followed his father's advice and opened the Bao Zhi Lin medicine shop. Unexpectedly, just as Wong Fei-hung decided to stop teaching martial arts, a blacksmith worker named Leung Kwan and his friend Guo You Sheng came to seek him as a teacher. Wong refused them multiple times, but Leung remained determined; however, Guo You Sheng grew disheartened and planned to become a disciple of Master Xie Rong instead. Leung Kwan accompanied him, and during their meeting, Xie Rong ridiculed Guo You Sheng for offering a low disciple fee and ended up accidentally killing Guo in a playful fight. Enraged, Leung Kwan wanted justice for his friend but was outmatched by Xie Rong’s skills. In a desperate moment, Leung Kwan shouted, "I am Wong Fei-hung's disciple! You dare to take my life!" Master Wong was forced to take on an unwilling disciple. While furious, he also admired Leung Kwan's wit and loyalty. Just as he was in a dilemma, his dear friend General Liu Yong Fu, a leader in the Black Flag Army, advised Wong on the path of righteousness: "Practicing medicine can save lives, while teaching martial arts can save the nation!" Motivated by Liu's words, Wong decided to rescue Leung Kwan and truly accepted him as a disciple. Lin Shi Rong, also known as Zhu Rou Rong, had his connections to Wong Fei-hung's discipleship through the name "Wong Fei-hung". Zhu Rou Rong fell in love with a courtesan named Wang Fei Hong, sharing the same name, leading to many humorous situations. It is said that Zhu Rou Rong spent his entire savings to redeem Fei Hong and planned to marry her, but she ultimately rejected him for the handsome shopkeeper Wen Nan, leading to Zhu's misfortune. When Fei Hong was deceived by Wen, she cried and sought Zhu Rou Rong's help. Zhu, being a good person, agreed to defend her honor but ended up being beaten severely. Wong Fei-hung, sharing a name with the courtesan, innocently got involved in the incident, saved Zhu Rou Rong's life, and accepted him as a disciple. Gwei Jiao Qi was not known as Gwei Jiao Qi before becoming a disciple of Wong Fei-hung; he was originally 洪七 (Hung Qi). He was just a bully and a martial arts fanatic who wanted to challenge Wong Fei-hung, but Wong refused to fight. One day, he used the excuse of bullying a fishmonger, forcing Wong to step in with his "No Shadow Kick," causing Hung Qi's foot to break. Injured and stranded, Wong showed him no ill will, healed his wounds personally, and accepted him as a disciple, teaching him the "No Shadow Kick" in hopes of reforming him. After some time, a thief named A Su was caught stealing from Bao Zhi Lin. Wong Fei-hung was lenient and did not report him to the authorities, but A Su seemed somewhat foolish, saying he would return to steal again! As expected, A Su returned on the second night to steal more medicine but failed again. Wong, curious about his motives, found out that A Su was stealing medicine to help the poor who couldn’t afford treatment. Upon learning this, Wong let him go; on the third night, A Su attempted to steal again, and this time Wong deliberately let him do so without interference. After A Su left, Wong discovered that A Su had mistakenly stolen poison instead and ordered his disciples to pursue and prevent a tragedy. Afterward, Master Wong formally taught A Su medicine to prevent him from causing harm while trying to help others. Alice was not a disciple of Wong Fei-hung but played an important role. She was Wong Fei-hung's English teacher during his time in Hong Kong, known for her lively and clever personality, and boldness akin to a man. Having left home and wandering around, she passed through Foshan and stayed at Bao Zhi Lin. She had a close brotherly bond with Wong Fei-hung, often leading to misunderstandings and numerous humorous anecdotes. One day, Wong Fei-hung received a secret letter from General Liu, urging him to go to the capital for important matters. He entrusted the management of Bao Zhi Lin to four disciples and instructed them to take good care of Alice. Once Wong Fei-hung left, Alice's mischievous personality came to the fore. Zhu Rou Rong planned to curb her ambitions by sending her to a deserted island for training, but unexpectedly, she turned the tables on him, leaving Shi Rong to suffer alone on the island. Meanwhile, Leung Kwan and Gwei Jiao Qi, both self-important, vied for leadership roles and neglected their responsibilities, allowing Alice to rampage unchecked. A commoner named Zhou Xiang Xiang was forced into marriage by her father and staged a public martial arts competition to seek her suitor. Alice had no excuse to meddle in others’ affairs, so she disguised herself as a man and personally entered the ring to compete for marriage, only to find her opponent was Leung Kwan. By coincidence, Alice triumphed. Just when she was ready to leave triumphantly, Xiang Xiang fell in love at first sight with her in disguise and persistently pursued her… Just as one wave subsided, another arose; the newly appointed drug enforcement officer, Ying Tianlu, stationed soldiers at Bao Zhi Lin demanding immediate medical attention. However, the shop was overwhelmed with patients, and Alice insisted there were no privileges even for high officials, leading to a conflict. Fearless in the face of authority, she boldly confronted Ying Tianlu, showing no fear despite her youth. This confrontation changed many people's perceptions of her! Ying Tianlu, surprisingly a gentleman, apologized for his subordinate's rashness and hosted a banquet, expressing his strong opposition to the harm caused by opium and urging everyone to unite against it. Leung Kwan, eager to make a name for himself, ignored everyone's objections and took the initiative to challenge the notorious Iron Head Monk. Shi Rong worried about Leung's safety and secretly advised him that one success would make him a hero, while Shi Rong remained unconcerned about fame and preferred to withdraw unscathed. Leung Kwan's luck did not stop there; he found clues about opium traffickers from the Iron Head Monk. Gwei Jiao Qi, upon hearing this, also wished to get involved. The two brothers, both prideful, have always fought aggressively. This time, however, Leung got to the drug den first, rescuing a girl with amnesia. Gwei Jiao Qi encountered a masked expert during the escapade but was defeated and grew suspicious that it might be his former master, Duan Zhen Nan. Leung Kwan renamed the amnesiac girl Xiao Yue and, disregarding objections, took her in at Bao Zhi Lin to recuperate. A Su clamored to learn martial arts. Though Shi Rong knew he lacked talent, he still patiently guided and encouraged him. A Su sought to compete with his senior brothers, but no one wanted to indulge his foolishness. A Su believed he was the best martial artist, thinking everyone feared him! Everyone happily continued to perpetuate this lie. Zhu Rou Rong was forty and still unmarried, often lamenting that he was too kind, often suffering losses at the hands of women. Alice tried many times to matchmake for him but found it strange that he was indifferent to handsome women. Eventually, Alice realized that Shi Rong had a crush on her! This led to awkward feelings between the two. On the other hand, Xiao Yue and Leung Kwan's relationship blossomed, while Alice held no affection for Xiao Yue. Shi Rong and Leung Kwan, having always been like brothers, included Xiao Yue in their circle. They became good friends who shared everything. One night, Shi Rong, troubled by Alice's matter, sought solace in alcohol with Xiao Yue. When he awoke, he found Xiao Yue lying beside him! This scandal shocked the entire Bao Zhi Lin, and Zhu Rou Rong had no explanation, choosing to leave the master’s sect voluntarily. No one believed that Shi Rong would do such a thing. But the river water could not cleanse the shame! Xiao Yue gradually unveiled her true face; she had never been amnesic but had secretly colluded with drug trafficker Duan Zhen Nan to fracture Bao Zhi Lin, aiming for the key to the pharmacy in Zhu Rou Rong's possession. Unfortunately, fate played tricks. When Shi Rong left, the key did not go to Leung Kwan but fell into Gwei Jiao Qi's hands, the one person she found hardest to deal with! Bao Zhi Lin fell apart, but A Su lived in his own world. Despite Shi Rong's analysis, he refused to believe that Xiao Yue could be a bad person. Xiao Yue took advantage of A Su's trust to steal the pharmacy key, but he accidentally took the key to the firewood room instead; he soon encountered Duan Zhen Nan and was easily overpowered! A Su’s martial arts dream shattered, he left Bao Zhi Lin hopelessly. Shi Rong and Alice worked together to gather evidence against Xiao Yue, but unfortunately, each time they fell short. Meanwhile, Xiao Yue mistakenly believed A Su had uncovered her plot and sent someone to silence him. Leung Kwan, Gwei Jiao Qi, and Shi Rong, who happened to be outside the shop, all sought A Su’s whereabouts. In the end, he was still unfortunate enough to fall into Xiao Yue's hands! On the brink of death, A Su maintained his belief that Xiao Yue would not harm him. Finally, Xiao Yue was moved by A Su's innocence and let him go. Gwei Jiao Qi learned that his senior brother Duan Zhen Nan was trafficking opium and pretended to go along with it to infiltrate the drug den for investigations. Unexpectedly, Ying Tianlu cracked down on drugs, and all involved were arrested. Alice went to plead for Gwei Jiao Qi but returned empty-handed. In prison, Gwei Jiao Qi realized that he and his senior brother had been captured as part of a scheme, as Duan Zhen Nan had long been freed. He began to suspect that the mastermind behind it was Ying Tianlu! Bao Zhi Lin fell into chaos, with Xiao Yue using opium to drug Leung Kwan. The pharmacy key eventually fell into Xiao Yue's hands. When Leung Kwan woke up, it was already too late; drugs had been mixed into the pharmacy, framing the store. Ying Tianlu dispatched people to seal up Bao Zhi Lin, but fortunately, Zhu Rou Rong managed to rescue Leung Kwan and Alice just in time. Gwei Jiao Qi successfully escaped from prison and joined the brothers at Bao Zhi Lin. When everyone learned of the mastermind behind it, they were all taken aback. Ying Tianlu intended to exploit his position as the drug enforcement officer to break the law, colluding with drug traffickers to control the opium market. However, his grand scheme was impeded by Wong Fei-hung, who despised opium and had assisted General Liu Yong Fu in combating traffickers. Ying Tianlu knew that as long as Bao Zhi Lin fell, Wong Fei-hung would be hard-pressed to stand. The same would happen to Liu Yong Fu, altogether. Wong Fei-hung, unaware of the impending calamity, returned from a trip. Upon stepping into Bao Zhi Lin, he was surrounded by officers and captured for possession of drugs. To prove his innocence, Wong did not resist. Although Ying Tianlu apprehended Wong Fei-hung, several disciples escaped, still posing a threat. Duan Zhen Nan schemed to use Wong Fei-hung's public execution to lure the disciples to come save him, so they could all be captured at once. The disciples resolved to set aside past grievances and unite for their master, ready to fight to their last breath for Bao Zhi Lin… In the final moments, Xiao Yue redeemed herself and returned to Leung Kwan's embrace, joining forces against the enemy, a truly commendable turn of events. At the request of everyone, Wong Fei-hung, as an exception, accepted her as a disciple, making her the fifth disciple under his wing!
