This drama includes three parts: "Listening to the Wind," "Watching the Wind," and "Catching the Wind." The first part, "Listening to the Wind," takes place during the early days of liberation, where An Zaitian (Liu Yunlong), a member of the national secret organization 701, goes through great difficulties to bring blind man Ah Bing (Wang Baoqiang), who has exceptional hearing abilities, to assist the government in locating the radio stations connecting the Kuomintang in Taiwan with their remnants on the mainland, in order to gather intelligence and eliminate them one by one. The second part, "Watching the Wind," is set in the early 1960s, where patriotic math genius Huang Yiyi (Chen Zhuo), who studied abroad, becomes infatuated with An Zaitian and follows him to 701 to decrypt codes for the country, leading to changes in her personality due to the change in environment. The third part, "Catching the Wind," takes place in 1930s Shanghai, where Qian Zhijiang (Liu Yunlong), a communist party member infiltrated in the Kuomintang and An Zaitian's father, engages in a battle of wits and bravery with various Kuomintang figures to timely deliver intelligence concerning his comrades' survival.
