During the cooperative period of the Anti-Japanese War, centered around the Three Commanders of One Family in Jiangdong, an epic and tragic legend of life and death, love and hate unfolds. Three commanders are brothers. The eldest, Yang Tiandong, is the commander of the Eighth Route Army's Mangshan Detachment, active along the banks of the Han River; Yang Tianshu, the second brother, serves as the Nationalist army's Jiangdong city defense commander; and Yang Tianhong, the youngest, originally served as Chief of Staff to Jiangdong city defense commander Qian Guodong, later taking on the role of "Commander" of a special operations team. The Yang family has a glorious history extending back four hundred years; in the fight against Japanese pirates, forty-seven members of the Yang family sacrificed themselves for the country, leading to the Emperor issuing an edict to establish three stone arches inscribed with "One Family's Loyalty" and "Eternal Glory" and "Timeless Loyalty and Righteousness." Today, these three arches have become a revered cultural site. In 1944, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party agreed to launch a "Shield" operation in Jiangdong, intending to distract and intercept the Japanese troops led by the Ikeda Brigade, preventing them from reinforcing the Pacific war zone. Chongqing dispatched Allied representative Thomson and military advisor Lin Na with the specific implementation plan of this operation to Jiangdong to communicate and coordinate with senior commanders from both parties. At that time, the Jiangdong city defense commander was Qian Guodong. While en route to meet with the Allied representative and Lin Na, he was suddenly attacked by a group of unidentified assailants, killing all his guards and resulting in Qian Guodong's immediate death. Almost simultaneously, Allied representative Thomson and military advisor Lin Na were kidnapped. Lin Na is the wife of the garrison commander, Luo Yun. Two shocking major incidents occurred in one day, causing heightened tension among authorities. Luo Yun arrested major suspect Yang Tianhong. As Chief of Staff to Commander Qian, Yang Tianhong had left his post without permission, claiming to be dining out; during the meal, he got into a brawl with others, leading to traffic disruptions and providing an opportunity for the assailants. Doubts arose regarding whether this was mere speculation. These two major incidents were orchestrated by a special task force sent by the Japanese army, based on intelligence provided by the Jiangdong traitor "Eagle Eye." They intentionally incited a fight involving Yang Tianhong, killing Commander Qian and kidnapping Thomson and Lin Na. The Japanese disguised themselves as a mourning party, attempting to smuggle Lin Na hidden in a coffin out of the city, but Luo Yun saw through their plan. In pursuit of the Japanese, Luo Yun not only failed to rescue Lin Na but accidentally injured Yang Tiandong, commander of the Communist Party's Mangshan Detachment, who had come to attend the "Shield" meeting. Yang Tiandong lost too much blood and required a blood transfusion, which needed to come from a blood relative. To negotiate for soldiers from the city defense command to rescue his wife, Luo Yun had no choice but to release Yang Tianhong. The Japanese task force then infiltrated a hospital intending to kill Yang Tiandong, exacerbating tensions between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and jeopardizing the "Shield" operation. The situation was both precarious and complex, drawing high attention from both Chongqing and Yan'an. Superior officers sent Geng Juan to infiltrate the garrison to both protect Yang Tiandong's safety and rescue Thomson and Lin Na. Yang Tianshu, the deputy commander of the city defense forces, was under extreme pressure and lost composure. Chief of Staff Zhang Zhizhong remained calm and decisive, forming a special operations team led by Yang Tianhong, selecting skilled members to rush into the Japanese-occupied area to rescue Thomson and Lin Na. Geng Juan joined the team under the premise that Lin Na was Luo Yun's wife and that the garrison had a responsibility to act. During their march, the operational team was ambushed by Japanese forces and suffered heavy casualties. The operation's formation and route were highly confidential; being ambushed by the Japanese confirmed suspicions of an insider leaking information. Yang Tianhong decided to return to the city to root out the traitor first. Yang Tianshu was appointed as the new city defense commander. At the memorial for Commander Qian, he encountered Qian Guodong's son, Qian Kun, whom he appointed as his adjutant. After returning to the city, Yang Tianhong exposed the traitor hiding within the city defense command, adjutant Guo Yanqi, learned the exact location where Lin Na was held, and successfully rescued her. After interrogation and analysis, it was confirmed that Guo Yanqi was not "Eagle Eye," and the search for the traitor was still far from over. After Yang Tiandong was discharged from the hospital, he was ambushed again on his way back to Mangshan, nearly leading to disaster. This further confirmed the terrible destructive capabilities of "Eagle Eye." The Japanese army, eager to shake off the frustrations of the Kuomintang-Communist collaboration preventing their transfer to the Pacific battlefield, instructed the task force to release gas within Jiangdong city to incite chaos, divert attention, and disrupt the combined "Shield" strategy of the Kuomintang and Communist Party. The garrison intercepted signals, discovering that the pawnshop was the contact point for Yamada Yumiko. Yamada Yumiko ordered the Japanese at the pawnshop to notify Guo Yanqi to assist in opening the gas canister. Yang Tianhong rushed to the scene, but the couple committed suicide to keep their secret. At the same time, Guo Yanqi also hanged himself in the holding room, plunging the situation into crisis. Yang Tianhong volunteered to impersonate Guo Yanqi and meet with the Japanese. The enemy brought Yang Tianhong to a school, preparing to harm the students. The garrison learned from the listening device on Yang Tianhong that they encountered only one gas canister. To gather more information, Peng Wenqing decided to hold off on taking action, which ultimately led to the Japanese successfully releasing the gas. At a critical moment, Yang Tianhong shot and killed a Japanese soldier, quickly shutting off the gas canister and pursued another Japanese soldier to a metal processing factory, where the Japanese soldier realized he was being followed and committed suicide. Through arduous reconnaissance, Yang Tianhong deduced that the gas canisters were related to a church. The church's pastor, Simon, knew the location of the gas canisters but refused to reveal it. His wife and children had been taken hostage by the Japanese in Jiangzhou, using this threat to coerce Simon into aiding them in hiding the gas canisters. Simon demanded that his wife and children be rescued before he revealed the location of the gas canisters, to which Yang Tianhong agreed. Yang Tianhong led the operational team to Jiangzhou overnight, but they were surrounded by the Japanese. Thanks to the rescue from the Mangshan Detachment, they managed to escape. In Mangshan, Yang Tianhong experienced the vibrant and robust atmosphere of the liberated areas, deepening his understanding of the Communist Party. Geng Juan developed him into the Party and expressed her feelings for him. Clearly, relying solely on military force to rescue Simon's wife was unlikely to succeed, so they had to resort to exchanging hostages. The Japanese specifically demanded the Kuomintang-assigned supervisor, Peng Wenqing, in exchange. During the exchange, the Japanese unscrupulously killed Simon's son. In a fit of rage, Peng Wenqing strangled the Japanese female spy leader, Yamada Yumiko. Simon, seeing his wife return, disclosed the location of the gas canisters to Yang Tianhong, but only three canisters were recovered; the locations of the other two remained unknown. The implementation of the "Shield" plan faced serious obstacles, causing high-level officials in Chongqing to become anxious, prompting the military intelligence to send a supervisor. Tanaka, a subordinate of Hashimoto, disguised as the military supervisory officer Mei Xiaofeng, arrived in Jiangdong with the gas canisters and released them in the underground command center. The city defense command suffered significant losses, with Yang Tianhong and Chen Hushan succumbing to gas poisoning. At the same time, the Allies dispatched two military advisors, whose plane was shot down by the Japanese over Jiangzhou, with their fate unknown. Under Mei Xiaofeng's orders, Yang Tianhong faked his death, and with great difficulty and at the cost of blood, managed to find and rescue the Allied advisors. The "Shield" plan was finally successfully implemented, and the Battle of Jiangdong commenced. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party fought fiercely together against the Japanese. The Japanese general Ikeda was captured by the Mangshan Detachment. In the heat of battle, the Japanese leader Tanaka was captured. Tanaka was well aware of Lin Na's situation, outright accusing her of being a Japanese spy. Lin Na was arrested and imprisoned. Lin Na's case was tried by a representative from Chongqing. Yang Tianhong had once been in a romantic relationship with Lin Na and firmly believed in her innocence. Ignoring the threats to his life and Geng Juan's kind advice, he swore to rescue the woman he once loved. Lin Na, tortured and in unspeakable pain, knew well that Yang Tianhong would come to save her. After being rescued, she tightly embraced Yang Tianhong and cried uncontrollably. This scene made Luo Yun feel ashamed and left Geng Juan deeply saddened. The Battle of Jiangdong made the "Shield" operation a success. Yang Tianshu went to Mangshan to express gratitude to his elder brother and the Kuomintang for their cooperation, seizing this opportunity to buy back the captured Japanese general Ikeda with gold bars, in order to fulfill the mission assigned to him by the Ministry of National Defense. Yang Tianhong and Geng Juan came to Mangshan along with Yang Tianshu, during which their feelings for each other deepened. In Mangshan, Yang Tianshu received news from Zhang Zhizhong that Lin Na was about to protect Qian Guoliang out of the city at the city gate and that Cai Lanying, along with others, had captured her. Yang Tianshu ordered Yang Tianhong to stay with the Mangshan Detachment awaiting orders for Ikeda while he, along with Qian Kun, returned to Jiangdong first, but was hijacked on the way by Hashimoto's brother, Hashimoto Taro, who demanded Ikeda in exchange for Yang Tianshu. Yang Tiandong learned that Yang Tianshu had been hijacked by Hashimoto Taro, and the Mangshan Detachment handed Ikeda over to Jiangdong. In the rescue operation, Yang Tianhong successfully saved Yang Tianshu, but upon reaching the rescue location, found that Ikeda had already been rescued by Hashimoto Taro. In a moment of desperation, Geng Juan shot Ikeda dead. After returning to Jiangdong, Yang Tianshu learned that Cai Lanying had been imprisoned and was very angry. He ordered Zhang Junjiao to release her immediately, while the Japanese army instructed through Xie Baosheng of Baoshengtang for Yang Tianshu to carry out a revenge assassination against Yang Tiandong to avenge Ikeda. Yang Tianshu, caught in pain and contradiction, cooperated with the Japanese actions, leaking Yang Tiandong's travel route, resulting in Yang Tiandong being ambushed and killed on the way home from celebrating Yang's mother's birthday, with his son and daughter also perishing. At the memorial, Yang Tianhong and Yang Tianshu clashed violently, after which Yang Tianshu ordered that Yang Tianhong be confined. In the confinement room, Qian Kun tapped out a morse code on the wall, revealing a shocking secret to Yang Tianhong—Yang Tianshu was "Eagle Eye." Yang Tianshu arrived at the confinement room, demanding the lost cipher book from Qian Kun, who refused, and Yang Tianshu killed him to silence him. Yang Tianhong, hiding nearby, witnessed everything and disguised himself in Qian Kun's clothes to escape from the cell. The city defense command urgently held a meeting; Mei Xiaofeng and Zhang Junjiao both proposed to capture Yang Tianhong. Yang Tianshu decided to impose a city-wide lockdown to capture Yang Tianhong, with orders to shoot on sight if there was resistance. After escaping from prison, Yang Tianhong found Geng Juan and instructed her to follow Qian Kun's instructions to find the hospital director; in the director's secret chamber, he produced Yang Tianshu's lost cipher book. After obtaining the cipher book, Yang Tianhong approached Cai Lanying, revealing that Yang Tianshu was "Eagle Eye" and asking her to help him leave the city to deliver this important evidence to the Ministry of National Defense. After persuasion from Yang Tianhong, Cai Lanying finally agreed. Yang Tianhong met Lin Changyu at the defensive works outside the city. After receiving the cipher book, Lin Changyu immediately called Yang Tianshu to prepare a resignation letter. Lin Changyu handed the cipher book to his subordinate Xu Jiangtao for safekeeping, then quickly returned to Jiangdong with Mei Xiaofeng and Zhang Zhizhong, even ordering Yang Tianhong to be detained. In the warehouses at the defensive works, Yang Tianhong felt anxious because he knew his second brother well; Lin Changyu's actions could very likely ruin the entire plan. So he cleverly removed his handcuffs and instructed Lin Na to wait while he went out to retrieve the cipher book from Xu Jiangtao. At that moment, he discovered that Hashimoto Taro, disguised as a member of the garrison, was closing in. Yang Tianhong swiftly returned to the warehouse, only to find Lin Na in the clutches of Hashimoto Taro, who coerced Yang Tianhong into exchanging the cipher book for Lin Na and shot her in the process. Ultimately, Yang Tianhong conceded. Lin Changyu arrived in Jiangdong and informed Yang Tianshu that he had evidence. He called Zhang Zhizhong and Mei Xiaofeng to witness this. Just then, Yang Tianshu's phone rang. After answering, Yang Tianshu received a call from Hashimoto Taro, who claimed he had retrieved the evidence. Yang Tianshu's attitude abruptly flipped, turning on Lin Changyu and ordering his arrest. Zhang Zhizhong was left confused by this turn of events... Yang Tianshu called Xie Baosheng, demanding that he make Hashimoto destroy the cipher book immediately. Xie Baosheng retorted that he didn't have the final say, and told Yang Tianshu to discipline his wife as well as his chief of staff, Gao Feng, who had aided Yang Tianhong in escaping the city. After returning home, Yang Tianshu questioned Cai Lanying, who did not withhold the truth from him. Yang Tianshu ordered Cai Lanying to be placed under house arrest and secretly detained Gao Feng. Yang Tianhong took Geng Juan to the hospital, but at that moment, garrison officer Zhang Junjiao and Yang Tianshu's adjutant, Fan Qiqi, arrived, both wanting to take Yang Tianhong away. A violent clash ensued, and ultimately, Zhang Junjiao returned with Yang Tianhong and Fan Qiqi to the garrison. Subsequently, Yang Tianshu surrounded the garrison and demanded Yang Tianhong from Zhang Junjiao. Under pressure, Zhang Junjiao reluctantly surrendered him. However, Yang's mother suddenly arrived at the garrison, taking Yang Tianshu and Yang Tianhong home. After returning home, Yang Tianshu received a phone call, returning to the city defense command to contact Xie Baosheng, who instructed Yang Tianshu to obtain the counter-offensive plan devised by Lin Changyu. Yang Tianshu ordered Xie Baosheng to use the last gas canister to create chaos to cover his own actions. Yang Tianshu ordered Mei Xiaofeng to escort Geng Changyu and Qian Guoliang back to Chongqing and create a car accident on the way to kill Mei Xiaofeng and his party. Meanwhile, Yang Tianhong, with the help of his mother and Cai Lanying, escaped again, finding Zhang Junjiao and learning of Yang Tianshu's plan. Xie Baosheng, driven by his holy war, killed his own wife and son in a fit of rage. Shen Xiangmei was arrested by the garrison. Yang Tianhong interrogated her, and Shen Xiangmei revealed that Hashimoto Taro had handed the cipher book to someone on the Zhengyang ship, which would leave Jiangdong that night. Yang Tianhong boarded the Zhengyang. Lin Na, upon learning of her father's demise, was overwhelmed with grief and immediately resolved to take revenge, asking Shen Xiangmei to use herself as a hostage to meet with Hashimoto Taro. Shen Xiangmei took Geng Juan to the designated location, but they were spotted by Hashimoto's men. Shen Xiangmei died at the hands of the Japanese, and Lin Na was kidnapped... Meanwhile, Yang Tianhong boarded the Zhengyang. After some twists and turns, with the help of Luo Yun, Dan Yong, and the Mangshan Detachment, he obtained the cipher book. However, on the way back, an enraged Yang Tianshu reported to the Ministry of National Defense that the Zhengyang had been hijacked and requested airstrikes, intending to destroy evidence. Zhang Zhizhong stopped Yang Tianshu, but was detained by him. Yang Tianhong handed the cipher book to Geng Juan for safekeeping. Zhang Junjiao ordered Geng Juan to ensure that evidence was safeguarded and to inform the Ministry of National Defense to relay intelligence. Huang Jinling learned of this news and immediately notified Yang Tianshu, also managing to smuggle the cipher book out, seeking to gain merit with Yang Tianshu. However, on the way to the city defense command, she was caught by Liu Miguoi, whom she had previously offended. Liu Miguoi ordered his men to beat Huang Jinling mercilessly and seized the cipher book. Geng Juan returned to the contact station to report the situation to the Mangshan Detachment, but all this was witnessed by Huang Jinling, who had been lying in ambush outside. Huang Jinling captured the contact station's owner and staff, exposing Geng Juan's identity. The garrison intercepted suspicious signals within the city, analyzing them to likely belong to Hashimoto Taro. Yang Tianhong quickly rushed to Hashimoto Taro's location and engaged in a deadly struggle, ultimately shooting Hashimoto Taro, while Lin Na died protecting Yang Tianhong and collapsed in his arms. Luo Yun found Liu Miguoi at a brothel to extract information, learning that the cipher book was in Liu Miguoi's home. Just as Liu Miguoi left the brothel, he was struck dead by a military vehicle. Luo Yun returned to the brothel, tracing the information to one of Liu Miguoi's frequent courtesans, where he found the cipher book and quickly returned to the garrison. He chose to hand the cipher book over to Yang Tianhong. Yang Tianhong visited the city defense command with the cipher book and found Yang Tianshu, who released Dan Yong and the underground party members, also giving Huang Jinling to Yang Tianhong, while Yang Tianshu burned the cipher book. Yang Tianhong and Luo Yun, communicating via phone, learned that Yang Tianshu was to hold a commemorative ceremony for Mei Xiaofeng and Lin Changyu, and that people from the Mangshan Detachment would attend. Yang Tianhong sensed danger, suspecting Yang Tianshu's bombing target might be the ceremony site. With the help of others, Yang Tianhong detained Yang Tianshu before he could go to the ceremony, bringing him to a dilapidated warehouse. Yang Tianhong attempted to force him to admit his crimes but ultimately failed. At the ceremony, Yang Tianshu was delivering a solemn speech when Cai Lanying, suddenly overcome with despair, accused Yang Tianshu of being inhuman, a butcher, a traitor. Yang Tianshu hurriedly explained to the crowd that Cai Lanying was insane and then dragged her inside… Yang Tianshu approached the podium again, preparing to speak when he suddenly recognized Lin Changyu and Mei Xiaofeng in the crowd. The conversation between Yang Tianshu and Cai Lanying broadcast over the loudspeakers confirmed it, revealing that he was indeed "Eagle Eye." Lin Changyu commanded the arrest of Yang Tianshu, approaching him to retrieve a pen from his pocket, which opened to reveal a miniature listening device. The pen had been switched by Yang Tianhong during the abduction. Yang Tianshu was arrested, causing outrage among the gathered crowd, and the scene spiraled out of control. Yang's mother appeared at the ceremony, addressing the crowd and arguing that Yang Tianshu should face trial before his death, managing to save him. The next morning, Yang Tianhong personally executed Yang Tianshu. After the incident, Yang Tianhong voluntarily returned to the garrison, and Zhang Junjiao ordered Luo Yun to take him to Chongqing. On the way, Luo Yun let him go. At the Han River Bridge, Geng Juan led the Mangshan Detachment to welcome Yang Tianhong, and the two poured out their hearts to each other, turning the bridge into a sea of joy.
