The story takes place in China in 1941. The couple, Lan Zhibing (played by Wu Qilong) and Zeng Jieru (played by Liu Sitong), are renowned mathematicians living in Europe with their son, Lan Tian. By chance, they manage to decipher the Japanese army's telegraph code. With this crucial intelligence, the family decides to return home to report it to the organization. Unfortunately, their whereabouts quickly become known to the enemy. To prevent the code from leaking, the Japanese set numerous traps to eliminate the three of them. Ultimately, Lan Zhibing and Zeng Jieru tragically fall victim, while Lan Tian, carrying the code, is saved by former underground party member Yin San (played by Yu Zhen). Fueled by fervent patriotism, Yin San decides to help Lan Tian transport the code, but the Japanese army, learning that the attack failed, will not easily let it go. With the help of the hotel owner Shangguan Yu (played by Chen Zihuan) and doctor Long Xue (played by Xin Yue), can Lan Shui fulfill his parents' mission?
