In the late 1930s, the famous Peking opera troupe "Sheng Jia Ban" in North China had a conflict with the bandit Jiang Youcai, resulting in the tragic deaths of the leading martial artist Sheng Zhonghao's father and mentor. Before his death, Sheng's father forced him to vow not to seek revenge. Heartbroken, Sheng fled to Tianjin with his junior brother Wen Lixuan and junior sister Zhen Yuhuan. Along the way, they were scattered by retreating soldiers, and to protect his companions, Sheng was captured and taken to a Japanese labor camp. During this process, Sheng killed a traitor to avenge his master but consequently missed the opportunity to reunite with his junior sister Zhen Yuhuan, and the deeply in-love pair was separated forever.
