Out of deep familial affection, Shangwu chooses to abandon his identity within the Kuomintang, disguises himself, and infiltrates a prison to rescue his brother, only to witness a heart-wrenching scene that forever changes him. Following this encounter, Shangwu adopts the name He Tao and re-emerges, seeking revenge on the murderer of his brother, embarking on a frenzied path of vengeance. During this time, his fate becomes intertwined with that of journalist Zhuang Hui (played by Hou Mengsha), who is equally dissatisfied with the Kuomintang's oppression of the people and their passive resistance to Japan, using her pen to publish sharp articles exposing their crimes. A small figure burdened by family grudges completes a transformation of the soul at a time when the nation faces life and death...
