In the early 1950s, shortly after the establishment of the new China, the country was in need of reconstruction, and the flames of the Korean War reignited. Amidst internal and external troubles, oil became the lifeblood urgently needed by the Republic. To break the imperialist economic blockade, nearly 10,000 soldiers from a certain unit of the Northwest Military Region, engaged in anti-bandit operations in southern Shaanxi, were ordered by Chairman Mao to rebase in Hanzhong, embarking on a journey to find the “bloodline” for the Republic. Represented by Liu Fusheng, Gao Jiancheng, and Lin Hong, the oil workers, holding on to the belief of “bleeding and sweating without retreat, we must find the large oil fields,” faced numerous challenges.
