At a young age, Jin Deng worked as an assistant in a bookstore in Beiping and became a disciple of the renowned storytelling master Sun Heting. After Sun Heting fled to escape the repercussions of telling anti-Japanese stories, Jin Deng bravely took his family out of the border to seek his master after the victory of the war.
