The 22-episode TV series "Urban Affairs" tells the story of Ye Ruoli, a former associate professor who, due to unavoidable circumstances, resigns to open a restaurant, completing her transformation from a university teacher to a small business owner. In the series, Ye Ruoli and Mao Jian are initially a harmonious couple. To catch the last opportunity for housing allocation at Mao Jian's workplace, they, influenced by a sense of luck rooted in the adage "upper policies are met with lower countermeasures," undergo a fake divorce. Unexpectedly, Ye Ruoli loses her job and is forced to embark on a challenging entrepreneurial journey. During the lengthy wait for housing allocation, their fake divorce, originally intended just for the purpose of securing a house, evolves into something real as they both go through respective experiences, shattering their once warm "snail house" life. The difficulties of entrepreneurship and emotional ups and downs put immense pressure on Ye Ruoli, who is now in middle age. Despite the hardships, the seemingly fragile Ye Ruoli chooses to fight back, and through her relentless efforts, she successfully breaks through. "It vividly portrays the hardships and twists of urban entrepreneurs and can be regarded as a middle-aged version of 'Struggle' and a female version of 'Soldier Assault,'" commented Shi Zhongshan on his first non-military themed work.
