Liu Ertie (played by Li Xuejian), a retired train driver in his sixties, embodies the resilience and stubbornness of his generation, while also displaying similar clumsiness and stubbornness regarding his children. Ertie enjoys a drink now and then, and his frequent drunkenness further strains his relationship with his son. Liu Ertie's son, Haipi (played by Huang Lei), is in his thirties, has achieved nothing, and can only get by delivering parcels while spending his days goofing around with his buddies. He despises various aspects of his father, and their communication often ends in shouting matches. His childhood friend, Yi Shuang (played by Song Jia), faces setbacks in her plans to go to the United States; the young people can only lick their wounds and comfort each other. One day, the old man is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and his memories fade day by day. He forgets many worries, only recalling his son's obedient ways. Can I still hold his hand as the closest yet most bothersome person gets lost in the city of memories?
