Peasant Yu Dongfeng from Jiaodong joins the Kuomintang army to gather a bride price to marry his village girl Xiao Feng. However, halfway through, he escapes back to the village only to find it ravaged by the Japanese, with Xiao Feng's fate unknown. Dongfeng learns that the mastermind behind the chaos is Su Daya, the head of the maintenance association. He goes into the city, not only to kill Su Daya but also to create turmoil throughout the city.
