This drama tells the story of Xiao Pingjing, who studies at Langya Pavilion, investigating the case of his older brother, Deputy General Lin Jun, Xiao Pingzhang, which is intertwined with the safety of the Da Liang dynasty. The Da Liang dynasty is stable, but war continues on the borders. The Changlin Army, guarding the northern border of Da Liang, has achieved great military success and fame. During a northern battle, the chief minister, Xun Baishui, secretly cuts off supplies to the front lines, leading to Deputy General Xiao Pingzhang (played by Huang Xiaoming) being severely injured. His younger brother, Xiao Pingjing (played by Liu Haoran), comes down from Langya Pavilion upon hearing the news to investigate. Thirty years ago, the neighboring country of Ye Qin suffered from an epidemic, and Da Liang sealed its borders for self-preservation. Pu Yangying (played by Guo Jingfei), driven by the hatred of his country's destruction, infiltrates Da Liang and colludes with the top master of Langya List, the Lord of Donghai, Mo Zihou, to secretly undermine the Liang Emperor’s power and the Changlin residence, poisoning the capital and causing the epidemic to spread rapidly. Pu Yangying sets a trap, causing both Xiao Pingjing and Xiao Pingzhang to be poisoned in succession. At this critical moment in the north, Xiao Pingzhang gives up treatment and rushes to the front lines for support, dying after the poison takes effect. A year later, the Liang Emperor passes away, and Da Yu invades Da Liang. Xun Baishui and Prince of Laiyang, Xiao Yuanqi (played by Wu Haochen), deceive the young Liang Emperor into issuing an edict to ban military operations on the borders, while Xiao Pingjing defies the edict and leads an expedition to defeat Da Yu, causing the dissolution of the Changlin army.
