On the eve of the fall of Nanjing in 1937, patriotic student Chu Xiangxue collaborates with her underground party boyfriend Wu Bing to set a trap to assassinate a traitor, but accidentally gets caught by her secretly infatuated university classmate Liang Dongge. Not only does Liang accidentally kill Wu Bing, he also gets embroiled in a shocking military leak case, ending up in a death prison. With Nanjing lost, Liang Dongge miraculously escapes from prison and, unaware of the truth, saves his critically injured cellmate—the traitorous agent Li Bingyuan.
