French star Juliette Binoche joins Japanese director Naomi Kawase's new film "Vision," which will begin a two-and-a-half-week shoot in Nara this month, with a second phase of shooting scheduled for November. In addition to Juliette Binoche's participation, Japanese actor Masatoshi Nagase is also confirmed to star in the film, marking his third collaboration with Kawase. Their previous films, "Sweet Bean" and "Radiance," were both nominated for the Cannes Film Festival, and this new film is also expected to compete at Cannes. The film is a joint production by the French company Slot Machine and Kawase’s own company, Kumie. The story follows a French writer, played by Binoche, who travels to Nara and begins a cultural and linguistic journey with a local man, portrayed by Nagase. The film is planned for release in 2018, but the specific release date is yet to be determined.
