(Adapted from the novel "I Made a Deal with God" by Beicun) 陈步森 experienced a turbulent childhood. After his parents' divorce, he entered society and gradually went astray, getting involved in a murder case. He and his accomplices, including Da Ma Deng, embarked on a journey of escape after robbing and murdering Li Ji... Half a year later, Chen Bosen secretly returned to Zhangcheng, hiding at his girlfriend Liu Chunhong's place, living in constant fear. Unexpectedly, he encountered Li Ji's son, Tao Tao, who, surprisingly, didn't recognize him. From Tao Tao's teacher, he learned that Li Ji's wife, Leng Wei, had been hospitalized due to the trauma of her husband's tragic death. This sparked a fantasy in him of getting close to Leng Wei. On one hand, he felt sympathy for this woman who moved his heart; on the other, if Leng Wei also didn't recognize him, it meant his safety. Chen Bosen sought excuses to visit Leng Wei, and indeed, she did not recognize him, mistaking him instead for Tao Tao's father. This outcome burdened Chen Bosen with immense mental torment and pain. His conscience reprimanded him as he spent sleepless days alone, gradually attempting to approach Leng Wei, hoping that through his help, she could recover; having lost all memory due to severe trauma, Leng Wei could not distinguish Chen Bosen's true identity. Through continuous contact, she slowly began to unveil her long-buried emotions to Chen Bosen, who was moved and momentarily forgot he was a murderer, even developing a vague sense of love between them... However, Chen Bosen's strange behavior caught the attention of Leng Wei's doctor, Su Lei, who was actually an undercover cop surveilling Leng Wei. When he discovered that Chen Bosen was one of the suspects in Li Ji's murder, he did not immediately arrest him but instead chose a method of exile, wanting to help restore Leng Wei's memory through Chen Bosen while planning to catch Da Ma Deng and the others all at once. At the same time, Da Ma Deng and the others had discovered Chen Bosen's contact with Leng Wei. To prevent Chen Bosen from exposing them, they began to hunt him down... Chen Bosen, caught between enemies, had no choice but to reveal the truth to Liu Chunhong, who deeply loved him, leaving her in a state of conflict. After hesitation, Liu Chunhong persuaded Chen Bosen to leave the city. Before leaving, he bid farewell to Leng Wei but was persuaded by Su Lei to perform a "scenario reenactment" treatment to help restore Leng Wei's memory, which involved having Chen Bosen describe the crime scene to stimulate her. After careful consideration, Chen Bosen agreed to Su Lei's request. While describing the murder, Chen Bosen sincerely expressed the guilt he felt for the accidental killing and the events of that day; however, this did not restore Leng Wei's full memory, instead confirming her belief that Chen Bosen was her husband. To claim Chen Bosen for herself, Leng Wei committed suicide at the wedding of Chen Bosen and Liu Chunhong and was taken back to the hospital by the arriving Su Lei... Da Ma Deng, who had been secretly watching Chen Bosen, reappeared, kidnapped him, and locked him in an abandoned mine, enticing Leng Wei to this location... Before the abandoned mine exploded, Leng Wei's memory returned... Chen Bosen was rescued by Liu Chunhong... Su Lei captured Chen Bosen through Leng Wei, who also regained her memory, making it seem that everything was coming to an end. However, when the newly-memorialized Leng Wei faced Li Ji's portrait, she felt deep shame and fell into profound regret and self-blame. She decided to hate Chen Bosen and demanded severe punishment for him in court. Yet, Leng Wei still could not find relief; the strong societal backlash, the relentless pleas from Chen Bosen's sister and Liu Chunhong, her son's constant thoughts of Chen Bosen, and her complex feelings of both hate and love towards him only intensified her contradictions and pain. When she learned that Li Ji's death was a result of Da Ma Deng's revenge plan, she could no longer bear the mental strain. Ultimately, during work, her emotions spiraled out of control, leading her to accidentally injure a student. Shocked and filled with self-blame, she faced relentless pressure from the student's parents, leading to her complete breakdown and hospitalization. Unfortunately, the doctor informed her that she had developed severe kidney failure... Sunlight filtered through the iron bars; Chen Bosen in prison mourned, writing a lengthy confession, deciding to donate his kidney to save Leng Wei, but was met with her rejection as she remained trapped in her internal struggles and pain... Every day, yearning for rebirth, Chen Bosen struggled with repentance and atonement; if there were another tomorrow, he would willingly exchange his life for a warm dawn... When Leng Wei finally realized that forgiveness and reconciliation was the highest form of revenge, Chen Bosen was already unaware of everything...
