In 1927, the 415 and 715 counter-revolutionary coups occurred in succession. To rescue the revolution, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China convened the "August 7th Meeting" and decided to appoint Mao Zedong (played by Hou Jingjian) to lead the armed uprising in the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi border area.
