On December 27, 1937, the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China held an emergency meeting in Bizi Shop. In response to the rapidly changing situation, the meeting decided to officially launch an uprising before the Japanese invaders occupied Taicheng. Japanese army lieutenant colonel Hino Takahiro, as the vanguard of the Japanese forces, entered Taicheng. In Yaitou Village at Culai Mountain, the village chief Yang Shounan's second son, Yang Dongliang, was getting married. On the way to marry his bride, Hu Lamei, Yang Dongliang and others encountered the bandit leader Ju Zhenshan attempting to abduct the bride. In a youthful impulse, Yang Dongliang led people to fight the bandits but mistakenly killed two Japanese scouts. Yang Shounan's eldest son, Yang Dongshan, along with his comrades, including Feng Chao from the Provincial Committee, returned to Yaitou Village to prepare for the uprising, but were betrayed by the traitor Lü Maoheng, leading to a massacre of Yaitou Village by the Japanese army squad led by Hino Takahiro. On January 1, 1938, Feng Chao, Yang Dongshan, and others gathered more than 160 patriotic individuals at the Great Temple of Culai Mountain to swear allegiance to the uprising and established the "Eighth Route Army Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit 4." Yang Dongliang and his newlywed wife, Hu Lamei, successfully infiltrated Taicheng under the guidance of Feng Chao and others, sabotaged a series of strategic plans of the Japanese army, and decisively annihilated the Japanese forces led by Hino Takahiro.
