In October 1949, with the sound of cannon fire celebrating the founding of the new China, the People's Liberation Army marched into Xinjiang. After stabilizing the social situation in Xinjiang, the stationed troops responded to the central government's call, wielding combat weapons in one hand to continue purging reactionary and separatist forces, while picking up production tools in the other hand to begin cultivation and production.
