"His achievements overshadow the Three Kingdoms; his fame established the Eight Diagrams. The river flows, the stone remains still, leaving regret for the lost Wu." — Tang, Du FuIn the period around 200 AD, amidst the rise of heroes, the kingdom was divided into Wei, Shu, and Wu. The "Eight Diagrams" completed by Zhuge Kongming after dedicating his entire life, disappeared with his sudden passing. However, future generations firmly believe that this unpredictable military manual will reemerge six hundred years later as predicted by Zhuge Wuhou, and "whoever possesses the Eight Diagrams will possess the world." As the six hundred years approach, it is the late years of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang. On the towering Mount Dingjun, the gatekeeper of the "Xuanwu Gate," Ma Yunfeng, who has protected the Eight Diagrams for generations, is unwilling for chaos to arise again, and collaborates with the elders of his sect to seal the restless Eight Diagrams. Unexpectedly, the female demon Ying Su breaks the seal, causing eight beams of light to rise into the sky, shaking the earth and heavens. The eight generals emerge on the valley walls, each holding weapons: Tianling Needle, Weng Bei Qin, Kongming Fan, Ye Lin Knife, Longteng Whip, Ziwei Sword, Golden Halberd, and Hou Yi Bow. In a critical state, Master Ma entrusts his most unpromising apprentice, Xun Rizhao, to quickly find the descendants of the eight generals and the eight weapons, to prevent them from falling into the hands of villains after the Eight Diagrams resurface, causing harm to the common people. The innocent and kind but less skilled Xun Rizhao returns dejectedly to the General's residence, where the head of the household, Old Lady Xun, secretly worries because the Xun family has hidden themselves for hundreds of years in anticipation of the upheaval when the Eight Diagrams reappear. The one who inherits this heavy responsibility, Xun Rizhao, is precisely the descendant of Zhuge Wuhou, the only key to unlock the Eight Diagrams. Afraid of Rizhao facing unforeseen circumstances, the matriarch selects her granddaughter-in-law, Qian Xun, the daughter of Qian Kui, the richest man in Chang'an… a beautiful girl with exceptional martial arts, but fiery and notoriously difficult to deal with. Rizhao resists the arranged marriage and leaves a note to escape. Along the way, he encounters the pitiful Dieyi, whose kindness and generosity leads her to develop a deep attachment to him. When he excitedly brings Dieyi and her father back to Chang'an, he is unaware that Dieyi and Qian Xun are actually half-sisters with the same mother but different fathers, and Dieyi's father, Han Jie, intends to use him to destroy Qian Xun's entire family. Rizhao and Qian Xun, both possessing chivalrous hearts, inadvertently grow closer through their playful scuffles. They become acquainted with the renowned bounty hunter, Xue Hen, and, in the ongoing confrontations against the treacherous Yang Guozhong, form a close bond. Xue Hen notices Rizhao's exceptional martial arts foundation and encourages him to diligently practice inner strength. Rizhao diligently studies the texts on the stone walls of the Xun family's secret chamber, leading to significant martial arts advancement. After experiencing a life-and-death ordeal together, Rizhao is determined to marry Qian Xun, completely unaware that Dieyi has resolved to marry no one but him. Meanwhile, Xue Hen, who silently loves Qian Xun, faces passionate pursuit from the seventh princess, Shihuan, who has secretly escaped the palace. Also, the crafty and money-loving beauty, Yapo Taohua, pines for Dieyi while Qian Chong, the young master of the Qian family, waits for her… The tangled emotions and missions of these young men and women become intertwined and mysterious. Ying Su takes advantage of the opportunity when the governor she secretly supports, An Lushan, returns to the capital to spread the news of the Eight Diagrams' emergence. Due to the personal vendetta of Yang Guozhong, he incites Emperor Xuanzong's suspicions, believing the Jingguo Duke's residence is hiding the Eight Diagrams and plotting rebellion. Lady Xun is given a silken noose by Xuanzong, leading to her death. The fortunate Rizhao, who escapes the fire, suddenly transitions from the hereditary General of Jingguo to a wanted criminal throughout the country. The power struggles between Yang Guozhong, Yang Guifei, and the heavily-armed An Lushan reach a boiling point, each waving banners of saving or destroying the Tang dynasty, igniting war in various regions. Seeing the people displaced and despairing, Rizhao, encouraged by Qian Xun and Xue Hen, stands up again, mastering the unparalleled martial arts of the cultivation realm, seemingly returning six hundred years back, witnessing the last battle of his ancestor, Zhuge Wuhou, activating the Eight Diagrams, and his unfulfilled ambitions. He clarifies the heavy responsibility on his shoulders, locating the descendants of the eight generals one by one, and, with their ancestral weapons, collaborates to revive the Eight Diagrams, helping Prince Li Heng rally the world to restore order, pacify the chaos, and stabilize the realm.
