In the late Qing Dynasty, during a year of severe drought. “Shangjili,” a small workshop in the silk industry of Nanyang, was run by Shang Anyie’s son, Shang Dazhi, who was young and ambitious, venturing into silk sales. He faced bullying and oppression from the powerful silk merchant Chu Taozhu. With the righteous help of the Qin family, he was able to escape danger and turn adversity into fortune. The Xinhai Revolution broke out, leading to chaos. Shang Dazhi saved a beggar named Li Wenbao, who was about to freeze to death, thus laying the groundwork for future troubles. The military governor of Nanyang, Jin Jincun, was actively hunting down the notorious bandit leader Li Wenbao when he coincidentally encountered the beautiful girl Sheng Yunwei, who was in love with Shang Dazhi and about to marry him. Seeking personal revenge, he arrested Shang Dazhi. As a result, both Shang and Qin families were defrauded of their wealth and fell into hardship. To save Shang Dazhi, Sheng Yunwei married Jin Jincun, and after the marriage, she discovered she was pregnant with Shang Dazhi's child, which broke her heart. Dazhi nearly went mad; in his despair, he married Shun’er, who had always secretly loved him. His father died in despair, leaving a will stating that he would not close his eyes until the Shang family business prospered again. Qin's father ultimately reclaimed the lost silver for both families with his own death, and “Shangjili” finally revived its signboard. The silk business “Shangjili,” run by Shang Dazhi, began to see a turnaround, but unexpectedly, Jin Jincun personally shot and killed Sheng Yunwei. Before she died, Yunwei left a last wish for her and Dazhi's daughter, Zhenqi, to return to their roots. Shun’er lovingly accepted this unfortunate child and gave her a warm home. The “Flag” silk developed by Shang Dazhi won an award at the San Francisco Expo, but good times didn't last long as counterfeit silks emerged, and he faced further plots. Chu Taozhu and others kidnapped Shang Dazhi's only son, Shang Lishi. Dazhi fought back fiercely but ultimately lost his son in the process. Just as one wave settled down, another arose. Chu Taozhu accumulated a huge amount of silk to manipulate the silk market; Shang Dazhi united with his peers in the silk industry to strongly sell silk at low prices. When the situation was at a stalemate, the weaving room of “Shangjili” was burned down, causing the silk prices to plummet, leading to Chu Taozhu's complete bankruptcy and subsequent escape. The War of Resistance against Japan broke out, and the nation faced danger. Chu Taozhu acted as a spy and led Japanese troops into “Shangjili,” where he was killed by outraged civilians. Shang Dazhi collected the bodies of the fallen, and Shun’er, along with hundreds of widows, used the best flag silk to wrap the corpses and send them on their way. The War of Resistance ended victoriously, Japan surrendered, and “Shangjili” was reborn from the ashes…
