In the ninth year of the Tang Dynasty's Wude, a change occurs in the inner court, and Li Changge (played by Dilraba Dilmurat), the former crown prince's daughter, manages to escape. During her flight, she unexpectedly encounters Ashile Sun (played by Wu Lei), a special forces member from a grassland tribe disguised as Qin Zhun. The two initially clash but gradually develop a mutual respect as heroes. Changge thwarts a conspiracy in Youzhou, but her identity is exposed, forcing her to seek refuge in Gzuzhou. She hides beside the governor Gongsun Heng, helping him resist the invasion of grassland forces, only to discover that the enemy leader Sun is actually her old acquaintance Qin Zhun. Changge is shocked and heartbroken. However, the situation in Gzuzhou becomes dire, and to buy time for reinforcements, Li Changge negotiates with Sun, willingly becoming a captive sent to the grasslands, where she unexpectedly learns of the Great Khan's ulterior motives. Changge resolves to set aside personal grudges and risks her life to break the deadlock, while Sun, in a bid to save Changge, becomes an enemy of the Great Khan, yet they find themselves inadvertently separated. As Changge wanders in exile, experiencing hardships, she gradually comprehends the principle of a benevolent person being invincible and eventually releases her personal vendettas. After realizing that the previous Sui powers are the true instigators of the turmoil, Changge and Sun join forces to protect the peace between the Tang Dynasty and the grasslands, both finally recognizing their feelings for each other as they face the crisis together.
