Bai Yu, a freshman in the Cultural Industry Management Department at Nanzhou University of Transportation, accidentally stumbles into the selection scene of the College of Liberal Arts Debate Club and, by chance, joins the long-silent debate club along with his arch-nemeses Yi Xiaoxi and Sun Qing. Senior sister Geng Tingting, who dreams of winning the national college debate championship, sees her last hope in this team. However, Teacher Tang from the Youth League suddenly decides to take back the debate club’s training room, and to keep the training space, Tingting signs a death pact: the team must reach the finals of the internal competition. Yet, this group of rookie debaters, having just entered college, severely lacks debating knowledge and skills and faces issues arising from their different personalities that need to be aligned. After some tough training, the team gradually begins to experience the joy of debating and the power of teamwork. After an intense battle, they unexpectedly advance to the semifinals and ultimately overcome the Law School by a narrow margin to become the champions of the internal debate competition. At the end of their freshman year, the members bid farewell to the graduating Geng Tingting. Debating has accompanied their growth over the year and has helped them begin to understand the true value and meaning of university life.
