"My Journey to the West" is a hilarious web series created by Jin Hezai Film Studio in collaboration with Tencent, based on the theme of Journey to the West. This time, Jin Hezai is not obsessed with recreating classic elements of Journey to the West, but instead takes a unique approach to reinterpret it in a postmodern way. The story follows Sun Wukong and Yang Jian as they find themselves in a duel, only to be transported to modern-day Beijing, losing their powers in the process. The two end up wandering the streets of Beijing, still dreaming of being heroes once again. After a series of comedic misadventures, they accidentally stumble into a theater staging a play called "My Journey to the West," where they encounter the reincarnated Tang Seng, Baigujing, Bajie, Yang Chan, and others. Thus, the formed "Journey to the West family" showcases a series of hilarious stories that juxtapose the modern with the ancient and the mythical with reality for the audience.
